Volunteering for Smart Works Newcastle will give you the

opportunity to empower and uplift women on their employment journeys.

There are three main volunteer roles at Smart Works Newcastle.

Stylist

Our Stylists help our clients find the right clothes for their interview. To be a good stylist you need an eye for style, great people skills and plenty of patience.

The minimum commitment is one day per month.

“When I was first introduced to the Smart Works team and all that they do I knew I wanted to be involved, helping women reach their full potential and making our little corner of the North East a better community where women can thrive had me absolutely sold on the idea of becoming a volunteer. The passionate team of women I get to work with in my volunteering role has made my time there so special, I feel so incredibly privileged to work alongside women who are on a mission, trying to change this world for the better. Being a volunteer at Smart Works is something I am especially proud of and every time I finish a day there I leave with the best feeling ever. I also am honoured to be part of our clients story in some way, we meet some amazing women with incredible stories, to even play a small part in getting them to where they want to go is such a powerful feeling, and it really showcases that when women work together and support each other, we are unstoppable. “

Interview Coach

Interview volunteers help clients prepare for their interview by focusing on their skills, their confidence and their presentation. You will need a background in HR, recruitment or senior management to join this programme. The minimum commitment is one day per month.

“So often I meet women who don’t recognise the skills that they have gained throughout their life. To work with them and see their confidence and self esteem grow in order to move forward with their lives is a joy and a privilege” – Sylvia, Interview Volunteer

Data Entry and Administration volunteer

Data Entry and Admin volunteers update our client database, file client paperwork and answer the phone as well as helping with other office duties. You need excellent customer service skills and general office skills. The minimum commitment is one day per week.

“What I love most about volunteering is knowing that I’ve been a part of someone’s journey into employment. Getting a job is a huge part of life and to have helped contribute to someone’s success is so rewarding.” – Caitlin, Admin Volunteer
